For 3D printer newbies. You need NOTHING else from Bambu labs. You can buy way cheaper filaments from Aliexpress with the comparable quality. I would recommend getting a 10 pack multi-color filaments liket his deal which should cost you ~$6 per 1Kg.

My son had been begging us to get him a 3d printer. Went from $200 A1 mini from his own pocket to dad jumping in on this action 😅. Let the random printing begin

A couple recommended items for new 3D print users.

3D model burr cleanup tool set and hotend cleaner:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CS6MLCWK

Jewelers pliers set for cleaning up models and removing supports.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PZ58BWJ

Air tight (waterproof) sealed container drybox for filament storage:
https://www.menards.com/main/stor...-12667.htm

Rechargeable Eva-Dry Dessicant for drybox:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Eva-D.../202847325

PETG is more durable than using PLA but also absorbs moisture more quickly. Most filaments recommend drying before printing. Once the filament is dry you can store filament in a drybox and you don't have to dry it again for the next printing.

Thanks for the FYI. Picking up from best buy (and returning my P1S combo) tomorrow, so will be checking the box before I take it out of the store...
Why choose this over the ps1? Trying to decide if I'm doing the same but I don't understand how big the differences are. (It's for my kids, 9-16)

TLDR - Get Bambu P1S with AMS 2 Pro if you don't want to tinker with 3D printer but want to get a 3D printer to enable your other hobbies. Get Bambu P2S if you can afford it. Get the other brands such as Flashforge, Creality, Elegoo, etc. if you are tight on budget and want to still get into 3D printing. These printers will print alright after refinements.

I read a lot about what 3D printer to get (P2S, P1S, Creality K, Elegoo Centauri Carbon, Flash Forge AD5X, Anycubic Kobra). Here is what I concluded:
  • For your first printer, spend what you can without stretching your budget. You want to spend just enough so if the printer sits in the corner, you have little to no regrets.
  • Creality, Elegoo, Flash Forge all make great products, but you may be more unlucky (than others) with issues such as auto-leveling, clogged nozzles, etc. Brands beside Bambu may require refinement to print great quality. So you need to have patience.
  • P2S over P1S - if you need a hardened nozzle, touch screen, better airflow, timelapse video, more optimized prints, But P1S is a workhorse, P2S is a refined P1S/X1C
  • P1S with AMS 2 Pro has a camera, closed enclosure, heated filament dryer- all of which can adds to ~$150 + your time to make those changes. Others that have a closed enclosure may save you $50

The post above hits the high points. I would probably have just kept the P1S if I were new to printing. The prints as far as I can tell are identical and for your purposes, I probably would save the extra money for filament.

I do think having the AMS 2 w/ the filament dryer is a benefit. However, there is also a sunlu filament dryer add-on for the AMS1 that comes with the P1S (replaces the top cover) for ~$100, which can also dry while you are printing (the AMS2 cannot dry while printing).

I used this offer on some other purchase before I saw this post. Does anyone know if it is possible to use this offer multiple times??
Only one now after the terms changed the other day. If it doesnt show completed in your PayPal rewards, you can still use it again, and the pending points will show, but its a risk that they don't actually award the points. Also, the points will be capped at a total of $1250 across all purchases.

Does the 20% back work everywhere? I activated it on PayPal, but how do I know if it works? Does it work on all sites or just Bambu?
Works anywhere that accepts paypal pay later.

Thanks OP.
I ordered through Best Buy yesterday for ease of returns in case something is wrong with it. It gave me a "Ship By Dec 19" date. Those of you who ordered through BB, did it ship before their anticipated date? I have an A1 now but I am anxious to get this.

Need to be careful here instead of guessing...

My P2S was ordered from Best Buy on Nov 20 and was delivered on Nov 23. It likely will vary by region.

The P1S is already a solid printer and will work well for kids. The main reason to choose the P2S is that it adds AI monitoring to catch problems early, stronger extrusion parts that last longer with tougher materials, and smarter automation so there's less fiddling with calibration. It also runs quieter and has better WiFi. If you want the most reliable, low-maintenance option, the P2S is worth it. If budget matters more, the P1S will still do the job just fine.

After looking at various options, I ended up with the P2S as my first 3D printer and currently love it. In my case, I am primarily interested in practical prints and designing/printing custom components like brackets rather than novelty trinkets. It really comes down to the practicality of using it after the novelty wears off. Looking through something like makerworld [makerworld.com] can give you lots of ideas.

The r/3Dprinting [reddit.com] reddit is also a great way to start and get an idea of what is involved before jumping in.

Where are you located? Ordered Friday, arriving tomorrow (Tuesday), so basically 2 days. Shipped from Socal and Im in NorCal
It actually came earlier than expected, but the order was split into like 5 different packages. It did arrive with box damage and a big dent in the back. They are sending a new back piece and two free spools. Better than nothing I guess.

Who is guessing? Everything I said was true, including the warning they could still claw it back.

Instead of conjecture, how about pointing to any relevant documentation. There is enough misinformation floating around.

And this statement is just wrong...
The points will be capped at a total of $1250 across all purchases.

The issues are two fold:

1) Multiple transactions, particularly on Wed Nov 26
2) Initial reward [paypal.com] qualification

This was sent out on Wed Nov 26

Were you able to confirm that you got the 20% discount (albeit max $249). I'm also looking an ordering a H2S.
It seems to have worked for me on the H2S. I got it without the AMS so the total transaction is under $1500. The $1250 max is only for how much the 20% back will refer to. There is nothing in the checkout flow to indicate this, but when you go back into your PayPal account, go to the home page, recent activity, the transaction that covers the total cost should show "25000 pending points" associated with it.

I actually had to go through PayPal support a few days ago because their system was glitching on black friday. Long story short, had to get a refund and try again, but worked fine today. I would note that PayPal wanted a screenshot with a timestamp of me saving the reward prior to making the purchase. To be safe, I would take a screen shot of your PayPal reward, saved to your account, with a timestamp in view of when it was saved (prior to your transaction). This should help safe guard you just in case you run into any issues.

Dude its not conjecture. I and many others had exactly what I said happen after previously making purchases and then making one more after the email. If I was guessing at what would happen I would have said so (or not said anything at all).
