I highly recommend avoiding this drive like the plague. The BX500 is a seriously flawed model, notorious for performance degrading to the point that you'd be wishing for a decades old HD. It's not simply due to being a DRAM-less QLC drive, as there are comparable drives that perform much better (even if still not great). I cannot recommend this drive for any use case. It's a shame Crucial didn't discontinue this drive instead of the great MX500.

No dram on this model. You want the mx500 or the 870evo. Only 4tb ones that still gave that.

yes it will work well with HomeBase 3. i have ssd that have 25% life and 100% life. they all work well and as intended with no speed loss. it's basically a rollute on how long it will last. YMMV

Does anyone know if engagement bait questions are effective for driving authentic user engagement?

If you're just using this for storage, this drive is perfectly fine. It's probably ok as a system drive for many people.

how often do you see the mx or samsung evo range go on sale at 4tb? need x6 to setup a new unraid array - which i assume would not be advisable due to lack of dram / slow speeds.

So that's why mine is so slow on my 2009 Linux laptop. Purchased in 2019.

Is it close to full? esp with qlc it needs room to work, but yea on top of that is bitrot degradation.

The MX500 was discontinued a while ago. The 870 EVO is pretty much the last appealing quality SATA SSD still on the market. I don't see them go on sale often, but sometimes there are deals. If you need them, I wouldn't wait much past Black Friday / Cyber Monday, since NAND prices have skyrocketed.

Quite possibly. If you wipe the drive and rewrite its contents, the performance may improve temporarily.

Even under optimal conditions, these drives can grind to a halt. I have the TLC version and it became intolerable despite being <20% full.

I mean you can...but why lol. It'll likely takes years to fill up even a cheap 1tb drive (assuming non-continuous recording).
