cause the main keycaps are translucent and the second set of keycaps have gold lettering and not transparent.
it has an aluminum core and is super sturdy, weights in at around 3.2lb~
so I have been looking at these 8bitdo deals for a while and from research the major difference of this Mecha Break version is the design/rgb but also these are linear switches. "Kailh Glaze Jellyfish Pro linear switches. Hot-swappable PCB. Support n-key rollover.".. I actually missed that when I ordered it, but it's a plus me.
with rgb on, cause the keys are translucent, you cant see the lettering as well. but it's part of the charm, since with their keymapping software you can map the rgb, and for me the whole point is to get visual que quickly for keys you often need, for hotkey or whatever. I'm sure most people know where the F and J keys are... (reviews have mentioned that previous version of 8bitdo keyboards are very light and clicky switches non linear)
incredibly well built little gem for the price, only down side is that is that its branded Mecha Break. i believe it's the exact same hardware (except the keys) as the XBox version since that is also rgb, but the price on that is $95~120. so by getting this Mecha Break branded one you are saving a lot.
IMO they can do better in the comparison between models and maybe have a sub sku for the differnt models. cause there are still older versions on sale at various outlets, but they will end up with mix reviews and people buying for the heavy alum core, but ending up with light plastic board...
not a huge fan of Mecha Break, but that becomes another project for modding it off the keyboard, and if you have left over ASUS sticker the color schema is a perfect fit, black on gold. if you can ignore the branding on the board, or will end up customizing it, the build on this is quite worth it.
