Careful if you live in Wisconsin or Michigan - Republicans currently have bills crafted to ban VPNs.

Just gonna put this out there.. If you know windscribe you know they're a bit of a quirky company, last year they had their usual strange video on Nov 20th and usually on a wall in a scene or something is a special code where you can get a further discount. I managed it last year and now I'm on $19/yr for life. I think the discounts are first come first serve so you have to be quick, but if you can get it it's a pretty decent deal for a good vpn company.

Well, their ultimate goal is a nation porn ban ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0noIS9lmR0Y ), they are using state legislature like the bills in Texas, Wisconsin and Michigan as attack vectors. These people don't understand technology very well, but they know enough that VPNs are typically used to get around these bans, so that's why they are proposing a ham-fisted blanket ban on VPNs.

It remains to be seen if they know how critical VPNs are to many industries and how they would write the law knowing this information.. Hopefully these bills get shut down before they see the light of day, because this is going to be a massive headache for many people and businesses for what amounts to an ineffectual ban.

FYI, they said earlier today they aren't doing the $19 special 'video coupon' deal this year. I've had a couple poor interactions with their customer service that was absolutely stupid on their part and several hiccups with their software (nothing leaked probably after reviewing my logs) that I jumped this year after a long time to try a different service out.

I was hoping for 19/yr. But the CS did hint me it's not coming back a few weeks ago.

Is this likely the best price of the year or will $19 come back?

Read the terms on that site. You only get cashback (CB) for the basic plan cost, not for any other package.
EDIT: I already have $80 pending. Use a zip code from a tax-free state.

no VAT?
i am the one who brought that terms up. i know what it is. you can sign up with other packages, but they only pay up for the basic plan in the difference.

wish the three year for $69 was still active. $29 yearly isn't horrible in comparison but still sucks, especially after seeing they were running $19 yearly subs. may just switch to proton instead.

I did to nord. I would have subscribed to 19/yr deal for life but then I went with 100% CB train. The moat for VPN providers is non existent.

I was on a subscription until 2028. Emailed customer support directly and if you have a current sub then it will push the "Pro" tier out another year. So, I bought and locked-in the $29/yr price today and was charged the $29, but my "Pro" sub has now been pushed from 2028 to 2029.
At first, I was a little confused on why it was going to auto-renew payment through Paypal next year in 2026, but the customer support was correct in their statement where the sub gets pushed on one further year. Essentially, I will be charged $29 at the end of November 2026, but my "Pro" tier will now be pushed to 2030. If I were to ever cancel the auto-renewing subscription, I will still have any additional years of service that are already paid for.
Quick timeline:
  1. Bought 3 years on StackSocial in 2024 that pushed my "Pro" expiration to 2028.
  2. Bought and locked in auto-renew price in 2025 for $29. Pushed "Pro" expiration to 2029.
  3. Auto-renewal charge in 2026 pushes "Pro" expiration to 2030.
3a. If I cancel anytime before my 2026 auto-renewal charge, I still have "Pro" tier subscription until 2030.
Edit: Some other posters have stated that auto-renew charge won't happen until end of current voucher. Unknown until next year then 🙃

Between now and 2028, they will run 19/yr sometime. I've high confidence.

That's a pretty long stretch to wait for another deal though. If $19/yr ever pops up again, then I am sure we can work something out with their customer service.
