Have been $14 but Amazon raised price to $20 before BF to make it seem like a better deal than it is.

Oh yeah, Zigbee 3 devices are very stable in my experience. Version 4 will be backward compatible.

From what I understand, devices can be activated in batches instead of individually (it may be one and done but is time consuming), without a hub, and range is increased.

Battery-powered devices will not get as much improvement. Still it will give Matter a good challenge, remains to be seen how devices will be priced.

According to Keepa, these were $14 from 10/20-10/30 but, otherwise, $20 has been the regular price.

Given the newly announced Zigbee 4 standard, all Zigbee 3 devices should have a fire sale this season.

What's the upside of Zigbee 4?

I have a couple of these and they've been very reliable.

Have fun fighting wonky drivers, odd disconnects, and awful return policies

Seems like ZigBee 4 introduce 900Mhz (NA) / 800Mhz (EU), which translates to better range and able to penetrate wall better while sacrificing bandwidth (but frankly speaking most ZigBee devices don't transmit/receive a lot of data). This gives the same radio wave space with Z-wave.
There are other improvements as well such as BLE

I need a few good Zigbee or z-wave motion & luminance sensors for indoors if anyone has run across a good sale.
