90s - Norton was useful
2020s - Norton is snakeoil, excessive branding, upsells, poor performance, ruins SSDs, and o think they got caught running crypto miners on machines.

Been using Norton since the days of 3.5" disks but I'm fed up with the constant upselling. Watching for a Bitdefender Black Friday deal.

Although personally ESET didn't slow down my computer like Bitdefender tends to do.

Thinking of ditching Norton this year for Malwarbytes. Is it a better alternative? Thanks

Current Bitdefender user. Tried it 3 times, still hate it. Too much false alarm. Over control of my computer. High maintenance. Missed it when I used Norton 10 years ago, they were just quietly doing their job at the back end.
