Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

Norton is a scam and completely unnecessary.

"No, you do not need Norton antivirus if you have Windows Defender. For the vast majority of users, the built-in Microsoft Defender (now part of Windows Security) provides sufficient real-time protection and is free, well-integrated, and less resource-intensive than third-party suites."

Friends dont let friends buy Norton!

Windows defender is plenty for the majority of people.

Check your elderly family to make sure that they aren't paying an obscene amount of money for this.

Garbage software. You're better off on Windows Defender.

Technically no. It's for a new installation. That's why they make you give your credit card for auto renew. So you can't get discounted renewals. That's their whole business model: lure you in with a great introductory price, and require auto-renewal. Then people end up paying full price for years after.

However, I find that they will often add and merge new keys on to your existing subscription, if you ask them through customer service chat.
