How do I put this nicely? It'd be an understatement if I said Apple treated the "I"-Pad mini as the redheaded stepchild of their tablet family. It still has a 60hz screen, no user replaceable battery, no microSD card slot, and it doesn't even use one of their "M"-series chips. It's underpowered with almost none of the bells and whistles of nearly every other device they sell, save for the most barebones entry-level tablet.
Folks have said the 5th, 6th, and 7th generations of the device perform roughly the same. For a "brave" and "courageous" innovative company like Apple, that speaks volumes as to how little they care about the "I"-Pad mini.
There's always talk about "there's a NEW one going to be released right around the corner!"....has Apple announced a new one yet? Nope. Then it's hearsay and conjecture. Until there is an announcement, nothing is promised. There have been gaps of nearly FOUR YEARS between releases, and this model came out in 2024.
Are you going to find a better deal new? Unlikely. They don't drop much below the $400 price.
