I thought this too but then I learned you can sideload apps within fire OS and also remove the apk for bloatware with a little fiddling. Look up flauncher on the google app store Sideload flauncher and you'll have a clean smooth UI. Google's app store will also list some recommendations for similar launchers and there are gobs of them to choose from. With Roku you can't sideload apps nor change the launcher like you can with Fire tvs.
