If you choose to go up to the Pro models, you get a better brighter display that can do variable refresh from 30-144hz, better speakers, and in the 17" model you get a rtx 5050 and the higher power 285H cpu. This is a big tradeoff in battery life due to the higher spec components though. If you like the 258V/288V power sipping lunar lake cpus, you can get that in the 16 pro and It'll run just like this but you do get a huge battery in this 17" model. I was considering the gram pro 16 but they havent gone below $1,495 with coupon on their partner site so far. Theres a posting for the 17" Pro model here on slickdeals if you want that, and I was sent a 15% off coupon that I shared in that thread to drop the price to $1500 shipped for one poster. It has limited uses though, so good luck. Hope this helps, its a good laptop for sure, but wanted to assist the community in comparing the models.

They aren't built like they used to be. But they are just as expensive as ever. Replacement parts are expensive, too.
But googling around it seems like it's a known issue due to cheap thermal paste and tape inside. So not sure the old ones were built that well either. Mine runs like dog.
But yes, I get it, I'm a huge Costco fan and usually buy electronics there for the reason you mention. Had a Dell all-in-one recently go dead after 23 months (like 3 weeks short of the 2 years). Called Costco Concierge service, they sent me a box to mail it in, got it fully rebuilt with new touchscreen and everything shipped back.
Re Costco : I read a story where someone returned a couch to Costco after 2 years of use, saying she no longer liked the couch. She got her money back. Talk about taking advantage of Costco's policy !
I used a CC that extends the warranty beyond the 2 years of Costco warranty. That is important to me: the machine is a present to someone in Europe. If a problem arises it may be months before one of us is traveling anyway and can bring it back to this country.
Also, I do not want to deal with adding a SSD, or other complications. Life is too short. Time is more precious than saving a few bucks. Yes, I love slick deals, but not if it takes away my time. Only 24 hrs. in a day.

Samsung Book5 Pro 16 has a smaller screen, but is a heavier machine at 4.10 lbs. These two laptops are targeting different market segments.
Ordered a laptop sleeve for it on Amazon, because to big to fit in any of my existing laptop cases. Also, bought an Anker USB C Hub that has Ethernet port. I have 1GB fiber, and the WiFi was giving me about 500Mbps download, the Ethernet gives me about 700Mbs download, so nice little bump.
Now looking around for a Black Friday deal on a SSD to drop in the second slot.
Also, did the 20% back PayPal pay in 4. Which now seems to be dead.

"The internal battery cannot arbitrarily be replaced or removed." Removing it may void the warranty.
It also says,CAUTION " Do not use any other power adapter than the one that was provided with the PC. CAUTION: Do not use the power cable for other purposes but power supply. Is this a joke?
There's no way this could be true right? Is this a throw away $1,100 Laptop after a couple of years?
