Free on gamepass for Xbox folks. This game is a masterpiece. The gameplay is good, but the art and story are the best I have seen maybe ever.

This is the best implementation of turn based RPG mechanics I've ever seen

+1 I hated the quicktime events. The battle system is literally persona plus extremely annoying quicktime events for dodges and parries.
Beautiful game and high effort otherwise. Took 2 hours of getting invested in this story to learn the combat sucked.

People simping the combat system are just simping for quicktime events, and are hypnotized by screenshake and cinematics. The combat is really basic and boring and frustrating. People say "It gets better" but I couldn't stand a few hours of it.

Seriously, I don't have time to play many games anymore. But, this game hooked me. I found myself finishing tasks early or spending my weekends gaming. First thing that got me was the music. The score in this game is simply phenomenal. Finally, the turn based RPG really reminded me of gaming as a kid. Playing around with different pictos and builds kept me intrigued. The parry system was annoying at first but you get used to it, and I think that's by design. I truly think this is GOTY material. Give it a shot!

Graphics, music and story are gorgeous, top tier. Gameplay is adequate and clearly inspired by Final Fantasy and Persona/Metaphor. Highly recommended, probably 2025s GOTY.

Im sorry but this is such a braindead take. You can tell a child wrote it by the overuse of "simping" in it. I dont like turn based games and haven't played any in 20+yrs, almost passed on E33 because of it. I gave it a try and its literally one of the best games ive ever played. Combat was amazing. There is like 100 pictos you can pick up and apply to your characters to create a large array of different builds and fighting styles. All characters have a large array of weapons and skills which combined with pictos gives you an insane amount of ways to create builds for your characters. There is no quick time events, theres 1 small part during attacks where you have to time your A press for a better attack. Even in defense you have multiple options to play like blocking, parrying or dodging. Some compared it to Persona and that maybe true, but I haven't played that and E33 was one of the funnest and deepest combat ive seen in a game.
Anyone on the fence about it, get the game. There's a reason why months after release its still talked about game of the year. Infact its so good the only negative you see in this thread is some kid talking about screenshot and boring, offering no real critique. E33 is a beautiful game, fully open world, and has AWESOME end game content which you can fullt explore before fighting the very last boss. If you pass up this game because you think combat will be boring, you are missing out on one of the best and beautiful games ever.

Same lmao. I took a stay at home vacation from work right when this released. Almost passed on it due to the combat, but gave it a try. My vacation literally disappeared lol. This game completely sucked me in and I couldn't put it down. It is amazing

People are allowed to not like things dude. Calling someone a child isn't productive at all. I grew up on Dragon Quest and FF1 and that was WAY more fun than the stupid quicktime events this game did.

Cinematic AAA games really do stuff to people's brain man. Turns them into wacky cult members.
