This seems like a poor design. It would be more practical if the clamp was on the opposite side so it could clamp to the back of the table. You can't use this while eating, and if you're flying economy your phone will be just a few inches from your chest.

A better solution is to bring a couple 3M command strips and mount a MagSafe puck to the back of the seat in front of you. Your phone can charge without taking up any space on the table.
