I too am chapped by the Synology hard drive lock in fiasco this past year but in the end they walked it back and for now they're still the best turnkey solution out there (IMO). I have a DS923 that's getting pretty full, so my plan is to migrate everything to the 1825 and then use my 923 for local backups.

Tried it at Newegg as they had the same price and PayPal are just scammers. Wouldn't go through.

Thanks, wish I knew this earlier. Price seems to have jumped back up. Guess I'll continue to wait.
