The version with a plastic drum is the one on sale, and it uses the blue fabric filters that slip over the motor to keep out debris, not cartridge filters. (They look like bags, but they don't collect any dirt, just cover the cage around the motor.) They're reusable, to a point, and come in packs of 5-8 for about $15. Not a lot of filtration as far as exhaust goes, but that's to be expected on a cheap shop vac. The cartridge filters in bigger/nicer vacs do get pricey! But they make a big difference for fine dust.
