The A36 was $230 for the phone and plan. Pixel 9 was also a great deal. The A16 is trash.

It's like getting their new customers unlimited plan for $180 and paying $15 extra for the phone.
Great price point.

I signed up for the Unlimited plan in early September for $15 a month / $180 for the year ,

Ohh well , it would have been cool to also get an almost free phone ,

Recovery fee is charged by carrier to pay for federal and local fees. It is paid by carrier to external entities. Some people report $25 recovery fee on the Mint Mobile 12m plan, but it depends on location. The amount will show up on the final checkout page.
Not worth it for me to go through the hassle and switch from US Mobile. I pay $210 a year and am about to renew.

can this phone be rooted?
Doubtfully. No XDA dedicated sub, mediocre processor, very little RAM.

Will this phone unlock eventually? Like after a certain number of days?
Mint policy 60 days.

Anyone ordered this or know the amount of RAM on the phone? The Mint site doesn't say whether it's the 4GB, 6 GB, or 8GB model.
T-Mobile carries the 4GB variant, so...
even at max 8gb meh...
Pluses: dual nano SIM, unlocks after 60 days, upgrades thru Android 19 (but then again- TMO A13 didn't receive Android 14 or latest patches even though international variant did).

You can always switch phones by moving the SIM card to another phone.
What about esims. Does mint make it easy to immediately switch out the esim to another phone?

Mint's website shows $330 for A36 with one year of service. Was yours an old deal?

Per Mint rep - It is very easy, you can just get a replacement esim to install it on your new phone and that's it The best part - it is delivered immediately and is free

I bought this phone and got shafted on the Straight Talk change in terms a few months back.

Regardless, I wanted a cheap phone for traveling to Ethiopia (and other developing countries) where my Nexus 6 was stolen on a prior trip there.

I didn't expect this phone to perform like my Pixel 9 Pro XL, especially after reading reviews, but it was perfectly adequate during my travels. The camera is good enough, the screen is legible, the battery life is acceptable, but it is so slow to open apps and when switching between apps/web browsing. I don't play games on phones, so that's irrelevant to me.

It worked fine with MTN and Ethio Telecom.
