Just a warning as a user of a Motorola phone. I have a phone that is a 2024 model, and it is already two android versions behind, and they will drop security updates for my phone in November of 2026. So, of all of the phone brands, Motorola supports their phones for the shortest amount of time. If you are lucky, they might support it for two or three years. So, if you buy this phone, it's probably only going to get updates until the end of 2026.

This is an excellent phone. Highly recommended. Responsive, headphone jack, magnetic charging, sd card, etc. Runs great.

We got it last year for $150+tax at BB (connected to VZW). Good phone overall. Nice design, light and slim, good screen and good camera for indoor use. Two terrible things related to the camera: do not use more than 2x zoom, it will decrease the image quality dramatically and also camera app sometimes freezing or even crashing. But overall this is very good phone, especially in red color.

Did you not get the Android 15 upgrade? I got it on mine earlier this year.

My phone got Android 14, after coming with Android 13, and online they said that my phone was never getting Android 15, 16 or anything else. Just security updates for two years from the release of the phone, which ends in November of next year. They do that to force people to buy new phones. It's called forced obsolescence.

I just got the moto g 5 g and it is worse than my phone from 5 years ago. It closes your app as soon as u switch to another. Zero multitasking...barely can do mfa. I don't know how anyone had a good experience with this phone.

You love that you can't multitask and that it closes apps as soon as you don't use it? Serious question.

Not sure what you talking about, I used moto g from 7 I think all the way to stylus and 2023, pretty solid $200 phones. I don't care camera but love sd card and audio port. Screen is brittle so be careful.

Never understood this update hysteria.

What do you need security updates for? North korean porn browsing?

It's a phone. It calls people. It texts people. It lets you browse normal websites. It may even play a game. If you don't do things on it that you wouldn't want your GF/wife to see you never need any updates.

My Motorola E play from like 2016 still does all these things. Slow. But still does it. Never once in its life it needed "updates". Whatever your phone is, is the best it will ever going to be, no updates will make it faster or better.

By the time updates run out you will buy another phone anyway.

I have this phone and have received the update to Android 15. Will have to see if I ever get Android 16, but not a huge issue for me.

I love this phone have had it since it came out and would buy again in a heartbeat. I have bought Samsung only in the past. I bough this phone to wait for a foldable and then realized i didn't want a foldable phone (who wants to watch videos on a square).

For photos, if you install BSC Gcam you will have a pixel 8 just about photowise. I have taken this all over the world and my friends and family's phones are dead at 5pm mine is going strong with GPS to get around Paris all night long until 1am since early morning.

I actually install the Samsung Internet Web browser and the Samsung Health app for activity tracking. Has tap to wake and pretty much everything on a Samsung.

The MotonStylus 2025 version has a better stylus but the CPU is not actually any faster AND eats up more battery.

Security updates will be released for this until Mid 2027 but no more OS upgrades. Which I am fine with. The apps get all the fun updates anyway.

You nailed it. It's a $200 phone. Battery life goes down dramatically after a year or 2. So I just buy another one. Still save a ton of $$$ vs a $1200 flagship.

I have this exact phone. One of the best phones moto has released IMO. Clean OS, fast and great battery life. OLED screen is great outdoors.

Hackers can get easy access to any technology no longer being supported and updated. And, you can get viruses from an email, or clicking a link. You don't need to be going on North Korean porn, as if that even exists.
