FYI apparently custom button assignments do not work on a portal. Just got it and will probably return it.

Mine isn't hard wired and I have no issues. Especially with the new cloud gaming. It works great.

I've been tempted by it several times, but I always cave to just using remote play from my laptop, which works great. Anyone have any arguments as to why to get something like this vs just keeping with the laptop?

If this thing could ever just be unlocked or jailbroken for streaming and emulators I'd be all over it. Like a better version of the Logitech G-cloud.

But if it stays locked down its just gonna end up in a dumb somewhere.

When playing locally at home, with your console hard wired, it works well (enough). I've used mine to play through my backlog of games while lounging in a separate room than my PS5. Great for single player action games. Helped me finish through FF7 Rebirth. If you plan to play a lot of FPS that require precision aiming, I would pass. Theres obviously still enough input lag for that not to be as enjoyable.
