I returned the Frigidaire Gallery 44lbs nugget ice maker to Costco and bought this one instead. I had better luck with this design in the past.

i thought the 44lb gallery model keeps the ice as ice without letting it melting into mush and was comparable to the ge opal. is this smaller model really considered as good?

The 'Frigidaire Gallery' model - AKA the 44lb one does not keep the ice frozen. It makes good nugget ice, but it does melt and get re-frozen from my experience.
