Was thinking about buying this. But the reviews say the trays are very soft and flimsy and hard to transport. The lid isn't secure at all. The ice isn't easy to remove.

Decided on the SamuelWorld two-4pk ice trays which were only a dollar more. Lot more reviews and higher rated. The rim of the tray has a steel frame so it won't buckle when transporting. Reviews say ice is pretty easy to release. Lids stay on.

However all of these brands seem to have at least a few one star reviews saying the trays have a chemical smell that won't go away, leaching into the ice making it taste like rubber or chemicals, or white particles floating in the glass. I guess they're all prone to defects or worse it's not really food grade silicone. Test the trays as soon as you get them (with water not liquor). Any bad smells, taste, or floating particles return asap.

edit: canceled on the SamuelWorld. Page doesn't even say it uses food grade silicone. Only that it's non-toxic. Going to buy the Bartender's Secret Sauce ice trays. They're advertised as food grade and made in the USA. You only get one tray with 4 cubes but I feel the safety is worth it

edit 2: the Bartender's Secret Sauce ice tray isn't made in USA, only their syrups. Seems these ice trays are all a crap shoot. Even a more expensive brand like OXO has complaints of smells and particles. I read W&P brand is supposed to be one of the best because their silicone is FDA and LFGB (German/EU) compliant but I'm tired of misleading myself and others.

It's on one of the pictures when you scroll down. It says Made in the USA, Family owned small business. However, that might be only for the bottle of Old Fashioned Cocktail syrup.

If you click on the seller information they say: Welcome to Bartender's Secret Sauce Cocktail Syrups. We are a small, family-owned business. Our products are proudly "Made in America", Certified USDA Organic, Certified Gluten Free, Non-GMO and Certified OU Kosher. We are proud of our ingredients and we look forward to sharing our great products. Cocktail with confidence

Again it might only be for their cocktail ingredients. I'm going to contact the seller and ask.

edit: they replied and said only their syrups are made in USA. This ice cube tray isn't. Bummer
