Maybe you got a dud, but these a great earbuds for $60. Sound is great, ANC is very good, battery life is excellent and app is has a fair amount of options for tweeking the sound. Only issue is that the case can't be charged up wirelessly.
I bought these in yellow and I loved them a lot. I have AirPods pro 2, Huawei open clip so I'm familiar with "high end" earbuds. But these Nothing pairs are very comfortable in my ears. Better fit than my AirPods Pro 2. Even though the chase doesn't have wireless charge, but the whole thing is so small and light weight. There can pair to 2 devices super well. I think I'll get another pair in white.

Bought them beginning of this year, they are already useless. Left bud doesn't last longer than 10min and right is on its way out. Amazing fit, great sound and decent noise canceling. But wouldn't recommend them at all.
Owner of this exact product since January 2025. They fit great - stay in ears during running and lifting and every other activity (shopping/work). ANC is very good and is the reason I bought these.
However, I will state that the first set failed after about 4 months. First set failed when right earbud stopped taking a charge and case stopped being able to connect (button didn't initiate reset either).
Nothing replaced this first set of nothing (a) earbuds and company pleasant to work with on that.
Second set has just developed a problem where the right earbud has a sound defect while using ANC (crackle sound). Nothing is having me send this 2nd set back for diagnosis/repair. That's fine except I use this every day. Nothing has been very pleasant to work with again on this RMA.
I enjoy using the product and can't use Apple. I'm not sure where else to look while these are being RMAd.
Fwiw one users experience - I like them but wish I was still using the first pair without interruption.

I've heard good things about the CMF buds 2a made by Nothing's budget brand if you're just looking for a ~$20 stop gap. If you're looking for something a little better, I've been extremely impressed with my Earfun Air Pro 4s that I got for $50. I believe most reviewers that compared the Earfuns to the Nothing Ear (a) have picked the Earfuns.
I own the yellow model. I don't think it has been a year yet but the battery now only lasts for 4 hours instead of 6 hours.
The noise cancelling is pretty much non existence compare to my previous Jabra. Often times one of the two earbuds would not connect. I have to put them back in the case or do a hard reset.
The design is sexy but overall quality is disappointing.
Mine broke a few months after purchasing. Never buying Nothing again. They were suppose to replace my airpods which are still working long after.
How did they "break" I love when people say something broke but THEY broke it. I've had 2 dozen headphones from random brands and none of them ever "broke" The battery crapped out sooner then I'd like but I only spend $20 at most.

One side stop working. Stop charging. Whatever it is... You can see the case has some kind of weird positing thing that you have to get right. It doesn't work well for pogo pin connectors. Why not just make it a drop in like the airpods?

Love them. Sound amazing, and fit super comfortably.
Love the case, except that it will get scratched and eventually not look as clear.
But clearly a lot of people are hating on these because they're not made by stole.
