My coworker had one of the big Stanley versions of this that also inflated (big yellow and black). He had a Ford Transit connect and was unable to get it to turn over (5 year old battery). He tried the Stanley and it barely tried to kick over.

I had a Chinese one just like this, if not this one and it made about 3 or 4 revolutions before quitting. It seemed to have more umph than the big Stanley but it never got the car cranked. Brought out the actual jumper cables and had him jumped off in about 2 minutes.
Moral of the story: These sound great and maybe if your battery isn't too far gone it's enough but don't depend it on. Always have jumper cables.

I own one of these and it works great. I keep it in my car and have helped a lot of people. It does start trucks.

I have one from avapow (with inflator) and a regular one from db power. The db power one holds the charge for 4-5 months - can leave it in the car without worrying and they replaced it out of warranty 2+ yrs later) when it finally stopped charging. The avapow one is sometimes at 0% charge when I need it.

Didn't see this brand in the project farm video, and that video shows how much variation there is in effectiveness

After reading your comment, I looked up some YouTube videos and looks like capacitor chargers are on a whole new level and each one will jump start more than 50 times and that's insane. I'm going to explore more and hopefully find a deal during this Black Friday.

He has a couple different videos; one from a year ago, and one that he did about one week ago. In the one from a year ago he rated the Avapow 6000A (same brand, different model) very high. It was in the top three I believe along with a Noco and Gooloo model. In the vid he posted a week ago he did not include the Avapow brand but did continue to include Noco and Gooloo and added Wolfbox as another highly rated plan.

Bigger is BETTER.

Got the Avapow 4000 in 2003 (all our cars are 3.5L or smaller and in S. FL).
Use it regularly and holds a charge for quite some time(several months)

There are issues with Mercedes and BMW.
(even connecting to battery)

If you live in the cold and have V8's skip the 3000 and go to 6000
Warm Climate 4k may be sufficient.
But the price difference "today" vs a couple yrs ago is marginal when on sale.

I have one of these units, and it will start my Ford Focus ST and the battery in that is dead as a doornail. It can also do it repeatedly over the same day or days without charging. I also noticed it has quite a few more safety checks when you connect it to the battery system. So for the price I have to say it would be hard to beat. But jumping cars is by nature a high risk activity, and when electronic components get overwhelmed or blow you can't do much about it. I just know having a real person's opinion can be helpful, though, so there it is.

If I'm not mistaken, capacitor based jump starters require some charge in the battery. I don't think they'll jump a completely dead battery. Other than that, they are really good.
