This is a great deal. This is the best CPU I've ever seen under $300. The performance here is 3 - 5x what you'd normally find in this price range.

8GB of RAM is pretty standard at these price levels but the great news is it has two DIMM slots only one of which is occupied. So you should be able to upgrade to 16GB for less than $40.

Also note that that CPU has Intel Xe graphics with 80 EUs. While I wouldn't buy this specifically for gaming, it is not bad for previous-gen games (most games before 2020) and approaches Steam Deck levels. This is also pretty rare to find at this price point.

Ok so I just got this laptop and gonna return it.

- Battery life was pretty poor. Out of the box it estimated 2hr and 20 minutes of use watching YouTube. Maybe it has some additional updates in the background but I didn't see any major processes .

- this charges via barrel plug. USB C is only data. Not DisplayPort.

- the charger that comes in the box is very flimsy looking, making the fact it's a barrel plug and not type c even worse. I don't see the plug lasting very long since the wire is so thin.

- monitor is 100% IPS and great viewing angles, but the colors are muted, so keep that in mind this is a no go for any artwork production

The power bit is why I'm ultimately returning, but again a great computer for a kid who isn't going to be traveling with this much. It's surprisingly sturdy and firm for a cheap laptop with no flex. It doesn't feel budget at all from a case standpoint and keyboard is decent

The 16GB/512GB version is on clearance for $299 at Walmart (in store only). I just picked one up a few days ago. Check your local Walmart using the app to see if they have any in stock. Easiest way to find it on the app is by searching for 120U as there are many variations of the Vivobook.

No such luck. That model is currently $459 at Walmart.

The clearance price is in store only. The Walmart app is only to see if your store has one available. It won't come up as clearance on the app.

This is tempting for my use-case. I just need something that is docked most of the time to upgrade my n100 mini pc. I already have some extra SODIMM and NVME modules sitting around ready to be installed. Unfortunately, the lack of USB4 or TB is a somewhat of a deal breaker for me. Charging with a barrel port is not ideal.

The point about USB charging is fair.

I've never seen any laptop near this price with USB4 though. Maybe you can find something based on Intel 11th gen near this price range with usb4 but the CPU will be older and not quite as good as this deal.

Anyone know how good or bad the display is? I picked up this on sale - https://www.bestbuy.com/product/a...JJGGLH7YX9 for $200 and the display is trash(TN panel). Was thinking of replacing the display for an IPS version which will bring it to this deal's price

It's an IPS panel, yeah, but 250 nits, so not particularly bright, but about as good as you can expect for a bargain basement device.

You will not find an IPS 14" display with a newer and powerful processor such as this one, at this price. This deal is as good as it gets with an IPS display, powerful processor and upgradeable RAM for under $300.
You can find Lenovo IdeaPads that come with 300-nits IPS display but they either come with the Intel 13th Gen processor or with non-upgradeable RAM, not to mention most of them are 15.6".

In s mode Windows limits your ability to install software to only those titles from the Microsoft store. In short it sucks. After you've registered and given Microsoft all of your personal information for your Microsoft account you can go to the Microsoft store download an app that converts it from S Mode to Windows 11 home, which I would do straight away
