Isn't S25 Edge free for new customers? Pretty sure that's the better deal?

Thats not an upfront discount. You will get bill credits over 24 months after a much smaller upfront discount.

Upfront or not with the flex plan you're paying 20 bucks a month for 2 years for decent cell service and getting a solid phone free.

The point of this deal with pay as less for the service as possible as you are doing this only for the phone. So only 4 months of service with $20 and upfront discount is a better strategy for getting the device for $500.

That's fair.

It looks like price of Flip 7 is $500 after $600 in savings:

Phone = 1100 - 600 = 500. At least that is what comes up when I try to do it.

If you don't have Fi, roughly $560 plus tax

Samsung trade ins have gotten really bad in recent years so I don't think you can do better compared to this deal and then seeling flip 5 locally (FI trade in values are super bad too). The deal runs through Jan so you can wait and see

I'm thinking to buy this phone for dad. I have googlefi currently. Can I ordered on my line then activate then give it to my dad next day? Will I break any rule? I will keep my line for 120 days

I would like to know this as well. I am a current Google Fi member and want to get this phone for myself but use a different phone number/sim than my google fi number. Am I locked into that phone fi esim, or can I transfer sim immediately upon receiving device (but of course still keep my google fi service active for the 120 days)?

EDIT:

"But here's what happens if you cancel or pause service
Canceling service, switching devices, or leaving your account stops the promotion. The $600 discount will be charged to your Google Pay account."

The above is from the promotion. Does this mean we can't switch the sim in this phone for 120 days? It says no switching devices.

You have to move your line to that phone for the promo and keep it for 120 days so I suggest opening a new line for your dad and become an existing user after 21 days as mentioned in the post and do the deal. This assumes your dad is on another carrier through.
