I signed up with the link and can confirm it doesn't work on any device that isn't a fire tv device. Tried using it on my phone, browser, and LG tv and it doesn't work on any of them. Tried logging in directly through HBO and using prime as a service provider and got an error saying HBO can't verify my subscription.

Amazon and Roku have advertised that they will offer 12 months of HBO Max for $2.99 a month starting tomorrow. (The regular price is $10.99 a month.) A Hulu/Disney Plus bundle of $4.99 a month is also expected to be added on Monday. Paramount Plus will be reduced to $2.99 a month for two months starting on Tuesday.

Anyone else having issues once they signed up through Amazon? I'm getting a device setup error on all my devices with fire sticks.

Our current subscription expires at the end of January. Can I buy this now and activate it when our current subscription expires?

Nope. It starts when you accept the subscription.

I went through the HBO Max on my iPhone. As long as you have a payment method in your wallet, I think you can get this. Just look for the alternative billing payment button. I can confirm that I did indeed get the $2.99 price for a year, billed through Apple, and that I can access it through the regular HBO Max app on my Roku TV.

Op, @SaltyOne Please update the description to say that subscription must be setup on a device that has Amazon App Store and payments enabled like a Fire TV or Fire tablet.

Any one comment on the ads, are they pre-roll or are they feeding them to you right in the middle of a movie?

Just watched a movie tonight. Ads at the beginning and throughout. Usually multiple ads totaling about 2 min for each break.

I couldn't handle the ads, like just when your are getting into the story they bust in with ads.

I received the same message just now. Amazon seems to be losing focus, lol.

I was able to get the offer ONLY through the HBO Max app on my iPad and my Fire TV stick. It did NOT work for me on my Roku.
FWIW, I had an account that expired in August. I signed into that account through the app on my iPad (not the website), got the message that I needed to resubscribe, and immediately saw the deal. I subscribed right away... Billing is through Apple.

Then I read some other comments about success on Amazon devices (including a tablet) but again, only through the app. So I tried on my Fire TV stick. I had to sign out of my account that I just renewed, and then chose the new subscription button. I immediately saw the offer again. (Screenshot 1)

Tried the same on my Roku and was just offered the standard subscription prices. (screenshot 2)

I also first tried this on my Android phone through the website and the app and wasn't shown the offer.

So 3rd party billing seems to be a factor - except for Android and Roku. And it doesn't seem that you need to be a previous subscriber. Hope that helps!
