I signed up with the link and can confirm it doesn't work on any device that isn't a fire tv device. Tried using it on my phone, browser, and LG tv and it doesn't work on any of them. Tried logging in directly through HBO and using prime as a service provider and got an error saying HBO can't verify my subscription.

Amazon and Roku have advertised that they will offer 12 months of HBO Max for $2.99 a month starting tomorrow. (The regular price is $10.99 a month.) A Hulu/Disney Plus bundle of $4.99 a month is also expected to be added on Monday. Paramount Plus will be reduced to $2.99 a month for two months starting on Tuesday.

I signed up thru the HBO MAX app on iPhone, under Alternative Billing, they show the 2.99 per month Black Friday plan, prior to that it was still 10.99. Keep in mind this must be done on iPhone and you will get billed thru the iOS App store.
Best way to get 2.99As it is not limited to Fire Devices

If I sign up for this deal now, but still have an active annual subscription does the deal start right away or after my annual subscription period ends

^this.. I'm more of a binge watcher like GoT series. I couldn't make it through the first two episodes with all the ads interrupting the flow of the story. Lack of 4K is also a buzz killer. I want to see the glass half full but I hate commercials.
Sadly this looks like the future business model, pay for your ads.

Some would argue that if you pay for TV thru Comcast you're already doing that.

I'll be the first to admit that when Amazon came out with the $3 upcharge to avoid ads I initially refused and then capitulated when Jack Ryan series came out and I didn't want to be interrupted binging.

I guess since its billed monthly and there a couple shows I'd like to see I'll roll the dice and cancel if it becomes unbearable.

I ordered it through amazon link. How do I set up the account. I choose the "edit info later" option.

Is it like Disney+ with 2- 3 min ad before a 30 sec trailer? Smilie
No. I just signed up. An ad every 5 minutes or so. Ad lasts about one minute and ten seconds. Too short to do anything but sit there. They got wise knowing a long ad every 15 minutes gives you to time to do something else.

I thinking about canceling. I'm not paying $ 18.99 for ad free but every 5 minutes is maddening.

It's on https://www.hbomax.com/. Do not need an Amazon device for the deal. Once you have your HBO Max subscription, you can log into it from any device... Where if you do it via Amazon, you may not be able to use on other devices.

So I've been trying to log in via the HBO app using Amazon credentials and it's a no go for me.
So interestingly, I went on the HBO app, they have the same $2.99 deal until December 1st. So I signed up thru them.
If you don't create the Amazon HBO account, they'll refund your $2.99 by December 8th I think it is.
