This seems like it would be useful doing both things. Can it sous vide properly if it doesn't circulate the water?

Thinking it would not be a problem since it heats the water all around whatever you sous vide so it should keep the water all around a constant temp? I'd still take my Anova over this since I can use different containers for different sized meats. Does't look like you'd be able to fit a goat head in that pot.

That makes sense. I like my Anova, but if I was limited on space and just wanted to try it sous vide, the combo functionality seems nice to have.

Pretty poor reviews on Target including multiple reports of cracking/failures, no wonder it's almost 66% off.

Yeah, this has been sitting in my cart for 2 weeks specifically because of the reviews. I don't want it for the sous vide, it's just the most attractive one of this brand I've seen... but I just can't... pull the trigger w/ all of the bad press

I have a Ninja Foodi XL (pressure cooker, air fryer, etc) that doesn't circulate the water either when in sous vide mode and it does just fine.

I don't think the lack of circulation will be too bad at this volume. The problem I'd worry about is that heating through the ceramic might not allow for precise changes to the temperature when the temp gets too high.

Is sous vide food actually good? Boiled in a plastic bag doesn't sound good.

it is at lower temperature anyway so the plastic won't melt.

It is delicious if you make it right. I love it for removing the guess work from chicken. By cooking it at lower temperatures but for a longer amount of time, you can get a "safe" cook on a piece of chicken that stays impossibly tender with minimal effort. I am very conscious of food poisoning, so the peace of mind is great.

Great!

I just bought the same looking crock with 2 chambers. Each slow cooks and sears. I love it. I make ez bombs each week. Making pozole right now.

I wanted the cheap one for $49 on prime day but glad I didn't buy. Buying this bad boy now.

Costco has been selling a lot of pre-packaged dishes that are sous vide which IMO have all been pretty mediocre even including the steak ones 🤯, and I had a gf's brother get into it and he made some great stuff, but in general I haven't been a fan...

That said, leading up to possibly buying this Crock Pot I've been looking into it a little bit and the tl;dr is its goal is to cook the thing perfectly evenly by ensuring a constant temperature all around it ( versus directional heat from say a stove )

But the key appears to be that after you do the base cook with sous vide, you're supposed to do a finishing cook to amp up the yum, like a sear on the stover or something else

To me, a bacherlor that *barely* cooks and if I do it's steak or eggs, that just sounds like even more work than regular cooking, so know your goals before buying is all I can say
