Hisense backlights tend to die, especially if you use your TV a lot. This has been a known problem with Hisense TVs for a long time. Ours only lasted about three years.
Great deal in my opinion for a bedroom tv I got a Hisense Roku tv from target in 2017 and it just finally kicked the bucket and the tv was on constantly
I disagree with you and/or will say if Roku is garbage then FireTV is sewage. I like the Roku much better in every respect. I cannot comment on Shield or others out there as I have not used them but the value proposition for Roku is excellent.
I have a Hisense from a deal like this last year and I regret it every day. The Hdmi input changes by itself whenever I try to use it. So I'll be playing a video game and it will randomly switch to the home screen. I really want a dumb TV now

For low end Chinese TVs I stick with TCL.
