Rebrand to Tracfone and buy a $19.99 90 day card.

Edit: Everything I have read says that the phone should unlock after 60 days if you keep the same SIM card. I cannot confirm at this point.

You will need activation to start the 60 day clock but do you need 60 days of paid service to unlock? How does rebranding to Tracfone work?

With taxes and all it comes out to be $200 (without any plan), Ebay sells it at $199, not much dough to flip but if your kid etc needs it then yes it is a deal.

YMMV. I had an SE 3 they supposedly rebranded and it never unlocked on TF.

Everything I read says it should work. I recently rebranded Total Wireless phones, but it's too soon to know if they will unlock.

Do we still have to ask Tracfone CS to rebrand to Tracfone first or can we just directly activate the 90 day plan and the phone automatically rebrands? I read SDers reporting their success in directly activating, but don't recall anyone reporting unlocking success afterwards.
