Getting two to replace some old ones. The old ones still work, so even if a new gen Apple TV comes out next week I'm not concerned with the utility of these devices for a while. I am done with those old style touch pad remotes though.

No brainer at this price. Hands down the best streaming solution but a new generation will be out within 6 months (if not earlier). Larger storage version and with Ethernet is the one to have (this version).
Im only using android google tv Onn plus from walmart. Just cause of stremio and torrentio. Other than that it will be apple tv for everything else

Apple TVs starting with the 4K version have stuck to a consistent four year lifecycle. That would be up in 11 months. Take that for however you want.
That literally happened once and it wasn't even a full four years, at 3 years + eight months. Considering the fact that the latest (3rd 4K, 7th overall) gen released a year and a half after its predecessor, this means that the average would be < two years.
Even factoring in the time between the last regular non-4K release in the Apple TV HD (4th gen) and the first 4K release (5th gen overall), 1 year + 11 months, would result in a total average of 28.33 months between releases and still mean that what you said is wrong.

Let's say hypothetically this upcoming gen doesn't launch for another year. While that would be four years between releases, the end result would be an average of 33.25 months, which would still be under three years..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/App...fications(
Gemini Results:
"Apple does not follow an exact, consistent schedule for Apple TV hardware releases, but new models typically launch approximately every two to three years.
The time between releases has varied over the product's history:
  • 1st Generation (Jan 2007) to 2nd Gen (Sep 2010): ~3 years, 8 months.
  • 2nd Gen (Sep 2010) to 3rd Gen (Mar 2012): ~1 year, 6 months.
  • 3rd Gen (Mar 2012) to HD/4th Gen (Oct 2015): ~3 years, 7 months.
  • HD/4th Gen (Oct 2015) to 4K/5th Gen (Sep 2017): ~1 year, 11 months.
  • 4K/5th Gen (Sep 2017) to 4K/6th Gen (May 2021): ~3 years, 8 months.
  • 4K/6th Gen (May 2021) to 4K/7th Gen (Nov 2022): ~1 year, 6 months.
The most recent models, since the introduction of 4K, have seen a pattern closer to a two-to-three-year cycle. The current third-generation Apple TV 4K was released in November 2022, and rumors suggest the next model is expected in late 2025, which would continue the approximate three-year gap.
If you are considering a purchase, MacRumors provides a detailed Apple TV Buyer's Guide to help you decide if it's the right time to buy or wait for the next refresh."

I bought one at Sam's Club less than a month ago. I tried to initiate a return online and it is showing that it is non returnable. I wonder if I can return it in person?

Edit: I was able to return it in store.

They've been this price on sale forever
No, they haven't. It happens like once or twice a year, usually around this time and gets sold out really fast, usually within hours.

You're prolly mistaking this for the regular model without ethernet and 64GB (instead of 128GB).

Amen. My LG B3 has been an absolute garbage to interact with. Clunky, slow, and even after a reset it suddenly talks super fast during the setup.

Once you understand that you cannot claim those three months if you had claimed them previously with another Apple product, it doesn't.
Actually, I have claimed and received AppleTV free subscriptions on multiple Apple products. Don't know if there is a time period requirement between these deals but so far I have gotten 3x free Apple TV subscription offers on different products. Even if there was a limit you could open a new Apple ID to get around any limitation. However, I did not need to do that to get my free subscriptions.
