The multi tool included with this kit is the older model. I bought this model last year, becasue of a good sale, but I wish I had just spend the bit more and got the updated version. The speed control wheel is very easy to bump, which changes the tool speed mid cut. It's pretty annoying.

It looks like this is actually the newer brushless model R86242 according to the description. There's some pictures of the older model but the specs say the new one.

The second picture that shows the tool with a dial clearly shows a part number different to the one in the product details that shows the newer brushless model. You can always return it if it is the old one. I kinda need one.

I got the one with the dial speed setting and and on/off switch and do not like it at all. The product description shows this being the R86242 which shows to have three speed settings and variable speed trigger. Might get this and try to sell my other one at a loss

I got Ryobi tools so grabbed the $99 multi-tool below, but was debating getting this one. It significantly better than this one?

I bought this last time there was a deal ($149) and got the new version of the multi tool. Very good tool.

Yes, this is a lot better. The batteries in this kit are very good

Also, you can buy a ridgid to ryobi battery adapter for like $20 off a certain site that starts with 'e'

Just don't charge the batteries via the adapter in another branded charger

Nice daily deal! I had the 2 - 4 Ah Max Output batteries + same brushless multitool for $149 in cart since Black Friday deals started and luckily I procrastinated and held off.

I wish I could trade in a couple of my 4ah batteries (I'll even throw in one of my 6 chargers) for an 8, but otherwise great deal. I've been going to grab the B1G1 ~$150 deal on the multitool+batteries and return (hack) the batteries and keep the tool, but at this price, I can't really not get the batteries.

Couldn't resist this deal, even though most of my tools are now Ryobi. The Ridgid got better reviews, the price is great, and I can't wait to no longer deal with the allen wrenches on my corded Ridgid multi-tool.

For those who might be wondering, I bought the other deal at $149 three weeks back. https://slickdeals.net/f/18744424-ridgid-18v-max-output-starter-kit-with-2-4-0-ah-max-output-batteries-and-charger-free-18v-brushless-multi-tool-149-free-shipping?src=SiteSearch I tried to do price match, but they are saying these are two different items so they can't do that. (the other one is a 'starter kit'. As far as I can tell, these two seem to be the same, but they won't adjust.) So, I will have to buy this one, then return the other used one, under 90 day return policy, which will cost Home Depot lot more money
