The Legion Tab Gen 3 stands out as a compact Android gaming tablet with fast Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 performance, a 165Hz screen, strong sound, and good support for emulators and controllers like the Gamesir G8+. It also has useful gaming touches such as two charging points and Lenovo's performance features, while Android flexibility makes sideloading and app workarounds easier than on an iPad mini. The main drawback is the lack of microSD expansion, which limits local storage for large game libraries and media. A recent Lenovo update also broke screenshot annotation for at least one device, so it suits buyers who can live with 256GB and Lenovo's software quirks.
Common Questions (5)
No microSD slot is included, so storage is limited to the built-in 256GB. That matters most if you keep large local libraries or want to install many games; for retro gaming and lighter use, 256GB can still be enough.
EXTRAFIVE can stack with the student discount, and the PayPal Pay in 4 20% back offer was also reported as eligible. One reported checkout total was $342.94 after instant savings, EXTRAFIVE, and ID.me student savings.
Yes, it is described as a gaming-focused tablet that works with the Gamesir G8+ and emulators, and 256GB is considered enough for retro gaming. It can get hot during CODM matches, but not enough to stop playing, and the dual charging points help with passive charging while gaming.
The thread does not give an exact Android update count, but it does say Lenovo's tablets generally get more updates than cheaper alternatives. That suggests longer software support, though the exact number is not stated here.
A recent Lenovo update reportedly broke screenshot annotation, making that feature unusable for at least one owner. Another comment says Lenovo's gaming/performance UI is tightly integrated, so flashing stock Google OS would likely remove full-resolution Netflix, performance features, and the higher refresh-rate behavior.
