The Legion Tab Gen 3 stands out as a compact Android gaming tablet with fast Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 performance, a 165Hz screen, strong sound, and good support for emulators and controllers like the Gamesir G8+. It also has useful gaming touches such as two charging points and Lenovo's performance features, while Android flexibility makes sideloading and app workarounds easier than on an iPad mini. The main drawback is the lack of microSD expansion, which limits local storage for large game libraries and media. A recent Lenovo update also broke screenshot annotation for at least one device, so it suits buyers who can live with 256GB and Lenovo's software quirks.

buyers who can stack promos at checkout because community members report the deal is eligible for PayPal Pay in 4 and may stack with additional discounts (like ID.me student/first responder) and even Capital One Shopping cash back.
cccheel jct6699 cccheel
people who want a small Android tablet specifically for CODM and watching shows because it's described as geared toward gaming and the commenter played "100s of hours" with only noticeable heat during matches (not enough to stop), plus it works with a Gamesir G8+ and has two charging points for passive charging while gaming.
ksimm033
retro gaming fans who are pairing the tablet with a controller like the Gamesir G8+ because one buyer says it's a "perfect lil retro gaming tablet" and that 256GB is enough for retro gaming, with 3DS/NDS games looking better on this screen.
PaladinP
Android tinkerers who prefer sideloading and app flexibility over iPad mini limitations because commenters point out Android tablet versatility (like sideloading manga apps and using apps not available on iOS) and also mention the iPad mini not having a 120Hz screen as a reason to choose Android.
ibuythingshere

people who store hundreds of GB locally (music/videos/ROMs) because multiple commenters say the lack of microSD expandability was a deciding factor against buying, with one saying they won't buy due to no microSD slot for extra storage.
Stinktooth tool2269 mapletree4122
gamers who need lots of install space because commenters say the tablet's 256GB and no external microSD means you can only install a few games, making it "not enough for a gaming tablet."
mapletree4122
people who rely on screenshot annotation features because one buyer says a Lenovo software update broke the ability to take and annotate on top of screenshots, making it unusable and prompting a return.
force1x
buyers comparing it to an all-in-one handheld for emulation/streaming because one commenter argues the Legion Go S is better for emulation, compatibility, and streaming and calls out that this tablet lacks microSD and appears to have separate controllers.
SDJP2020
people who want to avoid Lenovo tablet reliability concerns because a commenter warns not to trust Lenovo tablets, citing freezing-screen issues on Lenovo's M and P versions with "no solution from Lenovo."

The deal can qualify for PayPal Pay in 4 with 20% cash back.
cccheel
The PayPal Pay in 4 promo can stack with an ID.me student or first responder discount.
jct6699
The tablet supports passive charging during gaming with two charging points.
ksimm033
The tablet can work well for retro gaming when paired with a Gamesir G8+ controller.
PaladinP

The tablet lacks a microSD slot, which limits storage for games and media.
tool2269 mapletree4122 mapletree4122
A Lenovo software update can break screenshot annotation, making that feature unusable.
force1x
The PayPal Pay in 4 offer may expire and stop being savable for some shoppers.
JustTheTip
Flashing stock Google OS may reduce Netflix resolution, performance features, and refresh rate.

Common Questions (5)

No microSD slot is included, so storage is limited to the built-in 256GB. That matters most if you keep large local libraries or want to install many games; for retro gaming and lighter use, 256GB can still be enough.
tool2269 mapletree4122 mapletree4122 Stinktooth
EXTRAFIVE can stack with the student discount, and the PayPal Pay in 4 20% back offer was also reported as eligible. One reported checkout total was $342.94 after instant savings, EXTRAFIVE, and ID.me student savings.
cccheel jct6699 Cease562 ricennoodle
Yes, it is described as a gaming-focused tablet that works with the Gamesir G8+ and emulators, and 256GB is considered enough for retro gaming. It can get hot during CODM matches, but not enough to stop playing, and the dual charging points help with passive charging while gaming.
ksimm033 PaladinP mapletree4122
The thread does not give an exact Android update count, but it does say Lenovo's tablets generally get more updates than cheaper alternatives. That suggests longer software support, though the exact number is not stated here.
aks_rokr Stinktooth
A recent Lenovo update reportedly broke screenshot annotation, making that feature unusable for at least one owner. Another comment says Lenovo's gaming/performance UI is tightly integrated, so flashing stock Google OS would likely remove full-resolution Netflix, performance features, and the higher refresh-rate behavior.

i cant find anything relevant that would work, but if u did, you would lose being able to watch Netflix in full resolution and also lose performance stuff, as well as referesh rate being locked lower and lose out on that 165hz. lenovo pretty much hard-integrated their UI features for gaming/performance to get the best out of SD8G3 processor.
