FFS Casio, at $145 retail you could've given us sapphire glass, especially if this is a watch for rugged use...mineral glass is a scratch-o-rama nightmare!

Not even sure it's mineral glass, many CASIO have just plastic "glass".

You are correct about scratch resistance:
Sapphire > Mineral > Resin (most likely to scratch)

However, scratch resistance means the glass is brittle, so resistance to impact is the exact opposite order:
Resin > Mineral > Sapphire (most likely to crack)

Accordingly, for a durable trekking watch, mineral glass is the best compromise. A few small scratches is way better than a shattered crystal.

Have this watch for like 10 years, abused the hell out of it still holding strong, highly recommend. Buying a Garmin Instinct this year to upgrade (better focus on health, and I hate charging Apple Watch everyday).

Big G Shock fan here, but Casio smart watches are a letdown. I got a Garmin Instinct 2 for $199 over the summer and it's been fantastic. Battery lasts 2 weeks with multiple workouts a week an nightly sleep tracking.Would love to see a Casio Gshock with health sensors that could go a week or longer on a charge.

I have the titanium band version of this watch and it has functioned flawlessly over the last 15 years. I've taken it all over the world on treks, climbs, and swims. I've also left it in a drawer for 6 months and it starts right back up and continues working. It has outlived countless health trackers, smartwatches, and other tech.

The good: the screen is hidden under a very tall bezel so it doesn't scratch unless something sticks right into it - mine has very minor scratches after all these years. The solar works very well - the watch has never turned off on me. During the winter it drops to "medium" or "low" but goes back up to high after a couple summer days. Compass works great but will turn off after 20 seconds (unless they changed this). Timekeeping is accurate as with all of my other Casio watches.

The bad: it is not a smart watch. The altimeter works but inconsistent and inaccurate compared to GPS. The barometer is fun but knowing pressure drops and possibility of rain isn't that useful on multi-day hikes (and again not that accurate). The thermometer, again, is also fun but affected by sunlight and body heat. The rest of the watch scratches up quite a bit, even if the screen still looks good. Sunrise/sunset times

Overall, I would buy this watch a dozen times over. If you're going somewhere where you just need a watch with some basic tracking features, it can't be beat.
