180 (before fees and taxes) *12 = 2160 for one year
Now, 2160 * 4 = 8640
Over 4 years, without taxes and fees, it is 8640.
Add state and other junk taxes to the total, it is a cool $10k over 3 years you have coughed out as a family 😆😆😆

It's always the larger picture that users do not take into account or aren't allowed to, when they dangle the shiny phones in front of you.

Even worse than that? When you "upgrade" every year or are given a 'deal' to stay with them after a year. That's how they become $$$$$ dollar companies. You become a perennial cash cow for these providers. They depend on your "it's too much to switch" or "they're good to me".

Your best bet is to stick to anything without contract or long term pricing. Yes, upfront it hurts, but the installment black hole will wring you dry. Doesn't matter who you go with.

2160 * 3 = 6480 for 3 years of service. But 4 new phones 1200 * 4 = 4800 already + bonus $200 gc

So $6480 / 4 = $1,620.00, subtract the $1200 value of the phone and you just got 3 years service for $420... $140 / year... $11.66 / month for unlimited. Plus fees sure but I don't see the downside here.

Pulled a trigger. Monthly Tax and fees are about 5 dollars per line for me, so total about $200 per month plus sales tax on 4 phones. Activation fee was waived.
36 months * 200=$7200
4 pro max = $1200*4=$4800
$200 gift card
7200-4800-200=$2200 for 3 years of service for 4 lines.
Each line of service per month: 2200/36/4=$15.3
15 dollars per month for Unlimited Plus seemed like a great deal for me. Equivalent visible plan goes for $26 per month with promotion now.

Sprung for it. My family is at the end of a 3-year AT&T deal, we all have iPhone 14's, so while not a required upgrade at 3+ years in it's the start of when it makes sense. AT&T service has been horrible compared to Verizon (had Verizon prior to AT&T).

Got 4x iPhone 17 Pro Max + 1x Google Pixel 10 Pro XL (all 256gb), all Unlimited Plus $45 / month. Tax came to $354 for the 5 phones. $200 Verizon Gift Card included in the mix.

Used an unnamed cash back site for a $400 bonus for a new contract with Verizon.

Paid the $354 tax with PayPal Pay in 4 and took advantage of the 20% cash back bonus there - $70.80 coming back to me.

The credit card ultimately paying the PayPal Pay in 4 gives me 5% back in Bitcoin, so getting another $17.70 back there.

My wife is a healthcare worker, nets a $20 per line discount for 4+ lines, so Unlimited Plus will only be $25 / line.

$25 * 5 phones * 36 = $4,500 over 3 years. $4,500 + 354 tax on the devices paid = $4,854. $40 activation * 5 = $200 extra charge on 1st bill. $4,854 + 200 = $5,054.

$5,045 - $200 gift card - $400 cash back - $70.80 cash back - $17.70 Bitcoin back = $4,356.50 all in 3 year cost for 5x new high end phones with unlimited service. $871.30 per line...

Got 5 high end phones for $726.70 less than the retail of 4, device tax included. Quality service for 3 year included (sorry your cut rate carrier's service is also cut rate - nothing you say can change the facts of reality. Sure you might be on the same network, but your service is lower priority than everyone actually on Verizon - when you don't have service at the crowded event, I will).

Really don't get the hate on this deal, it's a banger, even if you can't get a healthcare discount.

45/line =>> 45*4 = 180 | 180* 36 months = 6480 [for 3 yrs] | 40 activation fee = 160 | tax on 180* 36

What if I plan to leave Verizon after a year (say Black Friday next year)?

Is there an early termination fee or I just need to pay off my remaining balance of the device (after Verizon has paid 1 year of device down payment on my behave)?

I would love to duplicate this for a new account with 4x new lines. How did you incorporate the healthcare provider discount into the web shopping portal? Or is that something that has to be done afterward? Also any hints on which CB portal netted $400?

Also, seems like the $20 nurses discount is total not per line.

Anyway to waive activation fees?

You just need to pay the remaining balance. If next year's deal is "we pay off your device", all you have to do is to show the final bill to the new carrier and they'll reimburse you. I just did it last year from Vzw to ATT, as they paid off $800 balance and gave $10 monthly BYOD discount. The only down side is, my port was not fully finished on the last day of billing cycle and I was charged the next full month by Verizon.

I called to see what the "added taxes, fees, etc" would actually cost monthly and for South Carolina the bill would be $240ish a month. That is a wild amount of add-ons from $180.

Because of taxes on the phones or just the plan?
