The matrix system was my first power tool kit. I had the impact driver, circular saw and jig saw. I used the crap out of them. Worked amazingly well to be honest. I would not hesitate to recommend this.

I ♥️ my B&D matrix tools, they are very capable (but not heavy duty by any means). Great for apartments when a full tool system is overkill and takes too much space. I upgraded to DeWalt when I bought a house, but still reach for my matrix on occasion.

edit: batteries are compatible with porter cable with minor modifications. only battery brand with any cross compatibility.

I still have/use my Matrix system, as my GoTo for a 20v system.It stays IN the house, which is great.

For bigger/more power tools, I use the Ryobi 40V Tool set. All those tools stay in the garage, and only the batteries stay indoors.

These are surprisingly great tools, the batteries can be found cheap on other deals, there are adapters to and from nearly every 18-20v brand, etc.

The MATRIX concept is great. In one 19" toolbag I can carry a wide variety of tools that work for many DIY tasks. I have 3 Matrix 20v drills and that lets me put multiple heads on at the same time. I also use 1 drill with a pilot bit and another with whatever bit size hole I am drilling or screwing in and don't have to keep changing bits. I don't have this exact kit, but purchased the pieces separately when they first came out. They were also used in the craftsman bolt-on line and the heads are interchangeable. The only head I haven't used yet is the router head, but all of the others in the kit have worked well for me. Now, granted, there are times when you need something bigger, like a bigger circular saw, or a 1/2" drill, etc., but if the task at hand is within the parameters of the heads, then this set is highly recommended
