I went and read the reviews on this and it is bad. DO NOT buy this if you want more than 3 uses out of it, some people weren't able to get one successful solder.

This is the lowest price I've seen and I think it's pretty compelling ($10 lower than the FP deal from earlier this month).

Note that many of the older bad reviews were of the original version that had an issue with the plastic collet melting. Milwaukee has since redesigned the collet, which has apparently fixed that issue. Still, I think this is probably inferior to a Pinecil plus USB-C portable power bank for most use cases.

If you only read the negative reviews, you would come to the conclusion that practically every product out there is terrible. Meanwhile, there are thousands of positive reviews and 84% of reviewers recommend this. I'd guess that many who were disappointed either had the old model or were expecting plug-in soldering iron performance from a little convenient 12v cordless tool.

I've owned one for almost four years without any reliability issues. It's pretty bulky and not the most sophisticated of soldering irons (e.g., no temperature control), but it heats up quickly (~20 s) and does okay on basic soldering tasks.

This is a great price!

The positive reviews I saw were for batteries only, seems HD mixes reviews or something. Also, I don't sort by negative, I just read through a portion before I buy something

I have also had this several years with no issues. It's great for mobile repairs and heats up fast. I rarely pull out my corded one anymore.

Note I do not leave it on when not in use. As soon as I'm done with a joint, I shut it off. It heats up fast so this works great for my use

Love my Pinecil.
