These old style 4ah batteries have been known to leak the cooling fluid...makes a mess and doesn't affect the battery but this is a good deal for the price.

How do you tell the difference between the old style and the new one? Are the new ones with the Red/Black colors?

Yes. The new ones use USB-C to charge.

The 2ah leak as well, I have had 4 new ones that leaked in the bag inside a brand new kit.

Once you go 12V you realize it's superior 95+% of the time depending on your trade/project. Less weight and adequate power is a game changer.

You must have not used 12v...good enough for a lot of tasks.

With modern lithium ion batteries and brushless motors, definitely not. With old nickel cadmium stuff, sure. A 2-3 lb impact or drill instead of a 6-7 lb 18V model saves you a lot of fatigue by the end of the day/project.

Don't tell the very popular 12v Milwaukee line that then..

12v is very good for most people who don't use the tools for framing 10hrs a day.
