You probably can't do better than this for $799 all in, BUT, these speakers are seriously lacking. You would be better served by something like the Sony SS-CS5, Klipsch RP-600M, or some other heavy hitters in the budget space. But hey, cheap as chips and it will put a smile on your face, I bet.
Looking to spend 1500.. what can you recommend?

Maybe get these and replace some of the components?

How much of an upgrade would this be from a Onkyo Home Theater in a box from 2002?

This may be a stupid question - but this whole system OR Klipsch Nines on sale for around $850 at adorama? Use case is as main audio for TV in the basement for regular watching. For the theater room I already have a more robust Klipsch RP setup.

Receiver seems very underpowered for these speakers. 75W/channel with the speakers ranging from 80-120W (from what I can tell, though Jamo's website isn't responding, which isn't reassuring, and that would mean the wattages listed are for the pairs, not each speaker, which seems misleading but may be industry-standard). This means more chance of damaging the speakers. Also, from what I can tell, it looks like these speakers are geared very much toward music, so for primarily HT use, probably not ideal. Thoughts?

The Sony SS-CS5 and Klipsch RP-600M are $200 to $350 just for two smaller speakers, not to speak of the receiver. Of course if you spend much more money, you'd have a much better system. I'm not being snippy, just realistic. Do you have anything more in the same ballpark to compare to, or recommend?

if you're asking if the receiver will use the atmos stream and sound good with these speakers, yes. if you're asking if this set has height speakers, no. the front speakers are compatible with the Jamo S 8 ATM height speakers (they attach to the top of the s801's and fire upwards for the height effect), but they do not come with this particular deal.

This deal includes a full speaker set AND an AVR (the avr alone usually sells for slightly less than this deal)... i think the question is do you need the AVR and do you want the rest of the speakers in this set? - if you've already got RP fronts, and you're looking to upgrade your AVR and surrounds, this might not be a bad deal still, particularly if you want to sell off the s 803's to recoup some of that value.

Thanks for the reply. I have a separate AVR for my RP setup which is in the theater room. I was considering getting either this Jamo setup or Nines for my family room used for just regular tv viewing. Which would you go for, this or the nines? My understanding is that Nines act as AVR in case I decide to add a center channel down the road.

Get a monitor / TV. Projectors are farking stupid. The images that they produce are noticeably faded.

I bought this set for my living room. Don't have a TV yet. Didn't even know what a 5.1 system meant. Now that I'm actually researching a little bit more it seems like this set should work out. Thanks OP.

I got this deal before holiday, but have to go with another option for my TV. I am glad to transfer my deal to others with the same price charged by Adorama. I am in St.Louis area, no shipping, only local pickup
