this set is 59.99, while the driver alone is 29.99
It's strange how some deals are only on thanksgiving day this year. You would think stores would save the best deals for black friday, but apparently not.

Ryobi has vastly greater number of tools available in the collection. There's a lot of stuff Skil just doesn't offer right now. Like hammer drills, buffers, caulk guns, nailers, staplers, and others. And an orbital jigsaw with a variable speed trigger. (The Skil 12V jigsaw is an on/off switch for power, and variable speed controlled by a dial.)
And some of the Skil 12V stuff that is available is more expensive than 18V Ryobi brushless tools.
If you really can't stand duplicates, just keep your Ryobi batteries and chargers for things that Skil simply doesn't offer in 12V, and stuff that's better or cheaper in Ryobi.
I agree that these Skil are exceptional for the money, but I don't follow your logic. If you have the space, there's no reason not to have two systems.
