I don't know man...If you need 32gb then likely Air isn't for you.

Had similar thoughts but getting a pro with 32gb is like $500-$700 more.

it's the same chip as the pro macbook (non pro chip).
It's adequate

There is raw hardware and power but you will likely end never get to use it full because it would heat before that. Maybe if you dont want to spend another $500 then you might need to get a laptop stand with fan

Its more about the cooling in the Air. A 32gb means usage is on heavy side which would heat the processor. But Air would not be able to sustain it for long before throttling

Thanks for putting this into perspective. Based on the comments above i think a 32gb is well suited for a macbook pro than macbook air. and 24gb would just the job fine if i decide to go with the air

I've been looking for an 13" Air with 32GB I would say this is a pretty good price. Don't listen to fanboys saying if you need 32GB you need to go with pro. The pro I believe is over a pound heavier and feels like brick. 32GB should be the minimum in any laptop in an age where most phones come with 16 GB RAM. Just a chrome with 20-30 tabs will gobble up 60% of that 32GB.

And then 2 months from now the Chrome with 60-80 tabs would require 64GB. At that point, its not the device.

32gb was base configuration back in 2015 for our company's laptops. So....yeah. No idea why you think it's suddenly "too much" to have in 2025.

my apologies. I didn't realize the corporate is on this site looking to purchase 32gb+ equipment through slickdeals.

You missed my point entirely. Let me rephrase.

It's 2025. 16gb of ram today is laughably underspecced. It's quite literally barebones. For a point of comparison, I offered that people who actually care about productivity made 32gb the baseline standard...*an entire decade ago*.

It's not absurd to want/need 32gb of ram, as much software has higher RAM requirements (mostly due to all this Al nonsense and sloppy coding). The M1 through M4 base chips are typically more than enough to handle non-video/non-media workflows.

I personally have one of those barebones 16gb Macbook Airs (M1) -- and it hits the swap memory like it owes money. For all but the lightest of use, it's woefully inadequate.

Also, they neglected to include a fan on the Air as a cost-cutting measure -- which is a real joke too. They call it "passive cooling"....like a car without an engine is called "vintage Flintstones".
