So, ignore manufacturer's recommendation and abide by your recommendations? SMH.
I like to see if manufacturer recommends 5w30 for my model car in another country. If so, I go w/ 5w30... also they say as your car ages to go w 5w30 as well..
Was also going to request people not spread FUD about the weight, do whatever helps you sleep at night because the reality is, it probably matters far less than we think and is very academic to obsess over oil weights which differ across manufacturers and blends.
Glad so many people found this useful.
Government regulations on emissions and fuel milage are costing us a lot of money on less reliable cars. I like getting 32 miles per gallon in my new car, but I'm not looking forward to having to pay to have carbon removed from the intake valves.

Pre-covid Ultra Platinum was $25 otd at Walmart with a $10 rebate, limit 3.
My car has 150k mi now and driven less changing every 7.5k or at least once a year
Likewise our 'low rolling resistance tires' which by definition if they are low resistance dont grip as well. But they get 1 more MPG so USA manufactures use them, primarily in efficiency orientated cars but also to meet our strict CAFE standards.
An intelligent car owner would do his research and immediately switch to the best oil for his engine and tires that are better for his environment than what the accounting and marketing people insisted upon.
