"+ State" is for tax preparation software, not for filing.
I'm in MA and, if I decide to do e-fining using H&R software, I have to pay $20 on the top of $30. For you (NY) it's free. But you still have to prepare it.
So, yes, you have to have "+ State" version.

Sorry for the poor clarity. The garage delivery was for an earlier order, much like the digital credits for taking slower shipping on some orders.
I've had a deactivated myq/Amazon connection for a couple of years - getting similar credits for giving it a try back then. They recently offered a new $10 for reactivating it and taking a delivery with it. The MyQ gadget and app are fine and have been handy otherwise, but I never really needed or wanted deliveries using it. I'm just easily bought!

Thanks OP, after 20% prime discount $24 without tax. Same price I paid last Jan, LOL I laughed at all the Holds don't buy, don't think it ever got any cheaper unless you got some worthless giftcard\items.

I ordered Deluxe + State and was able to download and activate Federal, but could not download State. It sounds like I have to wait until Jan.7 when the first Federal update is scheduled before I can even download State (at least for NC). Has anyone else seen this or can you download State right away?

FreeTaxUSA upsells like hell. They also want way to much for the basics that come with the installed software.

Web apps are always a ripoff and should never be recommended on SD. As a non-prime member, it didn't show up for me but I signed up for the free 30-day trial and then the Additional reward detail link showed up, I tried with regular Prime Visa and Business Prime Visa and both had the additional 15% + 5% you normally get as prime member. HTH

You need the deluxe and state version. In NY they can't charge you the efile fee, you need the state software for your return.

Decided to go with the Amazon option. Was surprised to see that I had $6 in some kind of promotional credits (maybe digital credits that I generally never have a use for?) lurking in my account that got applied, so the Deluxe Federal plus State ended up being $24 (plus, I'll get 5% back for using my Discover card). Given all that, definitely glad to get the purchase out of the way now instead of stalking deals for the next several months. 😅
