They can definitely handle it, question is can your legs (calves/achilles specifically) keep up?
The benefits of these shoes increase as your speed goes up so if you're starting out it's a good shoe to save and bring out on races as your fitness improves.

have you used these before or just read about it? are they soft on the feet? i have really thin feet and i need a lot of cushion. the reason i want these shoes is to me this is the epitome of style. it's the best looking shoe out right now. i really want the black one but at 112 it's kinda hard to pass up.

For cushioned nikes, go with vomero plus. There's a deal at Scheels right now on all colors. This shoe isn't cushioned, per se, it's more about energy return with this specific formulation of zoom x foam. This shoe has some softness to it, but if you're landing on your heel, don't get this until you can change to a mid foot or forefoot strike.

i plan on just walking in them. tell me how this would be bad since while i was deciding my size went out of stock...

The non sense on this thread. Get these understanding what they are, can and can't do and try them out. They work fine for daily runs but will wear out fast. They are most beneficial for a small spring return energy on your stride on long runs and also help with speed...you don't need to run a marathon or half just to use them!
