Not as great as last week's PayPal offer but still best price as of Black Friday

You're probably better off waiting for the lower price to come back.
If you need something now, have no brand preference & don't need 11 channels.
The RZ30 for $750 is probably the better choice ime. https://slickdeals.net/f/18887872
Not a dealThis AVR needs to be sub $1000 IMOAnd its been lower than this many times in both public sites and side deals with local retailers( per AVS forum members)if I recall correctly..it was about $650 open box at the Best Buy/Magnolia clearance that was going on in selected stores a few months ago
WTF...Seriously!!!!
If we only had a Time Machine!!!
You would have to be a village idiot to pass that up!!!

I passed the X3800 up to buy the $950 Denon X4800 at the same time/store
The better resale alone would have more than equalized that when I got rid of it 2-4 years later
But I didnt keep the Denon X4800 either
For me the Pioneer LX805, that I owned at the time, was the better fit
Then I threw the Marantz Cinema 40 in that mix as well...which I didnt keep either
I think that was $1250-1300.
I cant recall exactly

Huh better resale value!
Pretty well known the 4800 doesn't offer that much more than the 3800.
$650 and you have everything the 805 has and more!

Well...I assure you the made in Japan models always sell for more on the used resale market
Do your own checking for the history if you care to validate that
Been there done that many times...
Despite what you think or the " pretty well known" people you mention
The market will pay more on the used marketplace for the made in Japan Denon/Marantz models
$650 would have not gotten me anywhere close to the amp /power supply capability of the LX805
Then there are the Dirac license charges
This was never going to run my main listening area so the odds are I would not keep it that long, relatively speaking
I bought the x3800h at this price with this deal; found it before seeing this thread. I opened up an amazon visa which gave me $250 off and for some reason this model had 10% cashback. I bought some other speakers with it as well. Net price after all this was $990 + tax.
There's a return window of 60 days so if I find a lower price I will return this and buy at the lower price.
I'm not really sure if this model is even worth it for me because I'm using it to power two Q11 metas, a Q6 meta, and SB-3000. I'll likely never go beyond a 5.2 setup.
Not to mention these are 4ohm speakers..

Well what I think is I compared the 3800 vs 4800 within my main listening area and there wasn't a $300 sounding difference.
What did you hear when you did the same?
I would argue that extra power supply is only a benefit if you need it.
If your surrounds and or Atmos speakers don't need 150 watts why pay for it.
I would rather spend it on head & shoulders Dirac licenses than power I don't need.
Then there is the 805 doesn't have access to the best Dirac license they have.... ART .... the 3800 does!!!
Let's not forget A1EVO, gives you pretty much all of Dirac Live & Dirac Live Bass Control for free!!!!
That's not just my opinion, pretty much well known over on AVS.
I'm pretty sure you can go over there and validate that very fact.

I have never owned the X3800...so I cant comment on the difference
I like the looks of it better than the X3800
if I kept it for a few years I know it was not going to be any higher cost of ownership due to the resale advantage of the X4800...So I chose it over the X3800 that was available at the same time
I understand your opinion about A1EVO
That opinion is not the same with many people on AVS...certainly you know that if you have read through enough of the calibration threads
I cant speak to DIRAC ART and what difference I think it makes...as I dont have it in my home
What I will say is that my Arcam AVR31 is a sonically superior unit to my Marantz Cinema 30...same speakers ..same media..same room and level matched
There are AVS forum guys that say that Denon/Marantz has stepped up their game on their higher end models versus the boutique brands in this last generation
Their pricing has gone up considerably since the days of my Marantz pre/pro ownership
But for me to switch out my main listening pre.pro I would need something at least the sonic equal , to my ears, of the Arcam AV41
The price for the Marantz AV10 ...with all the licenses I would need to buy....doesnt make sense to me . This is assuming a 20% off MSRP which I think is realistic
This is also assuming I would like it as well as the Arcam, in the first place, and that Dirac ART would make a big difference to my ears
