This register booster fan is aimed at rooms that sit far from the furnace or AC and need help pulling more conditioned air through an existing vent. It is described as useful for long or undersized duct runs, end rooms, basements, attic spaces, and bedrooms over garages, with built in temperature sensing that can keep it running after the HVAC cycles off. The main caveats are noise on higher settings, visible power cords, and the fact that it cannot fix bad ductwork or create airflow that is not already there. A practical niche fix when the room is the weak link.

  • Homeowners with a far-end bedroom that gets weak airflow, because the fan can pull extra hot or cold air through the register and help equalize the room.

  • People cooling a hot upstairs or garage-adjacent room, because it can make a noticeable difference when the HVAC struggles to keep that space at temperature.

  • Households with one or two zones and long duct runs, because the built-in sensor keeps the fan running after the HVAC shuts off to keep moving conditioned air.

  • DIYers with a standard 4x10 floor or sidewall register and a nearby outlet, because installation can be as simple as swapping the vent cover and plugging it in.

  • Rooms that already cool well, because the booster only redistributes existing airflow and may make little or no difference.

  • Light sleepers near the vent, because higher settings can be noticeably noisy and disturbing at night.

  • Homes with leaky, undersized, or badly balanced ductwork, because the fan cannot fix the underlying airflow problem.

  • People expecting a silent booster at every speed, because the fan noise becomes apparent on higher settings and can sound like white noise.

Your math is not mathing. 6/6 homes = 100%. 5/6 homes = 83.3%. Unless you have owned 1000 homes and 999 of them had ceiling vents, you might want recalculate there, Einstein.
Ouch, you got me.

These work. Live in the FL heat and have a ceiling vent in a bedroom over a garage, which can't keep up temp wise. Came across these although a 6x12 size version from a different company, installed one and it made a huge difference in that room. Yes, the cord running the wall doesn't look great (ghetto others might say) right now but I plan to get in the attic soon and hardwire a new outlet up there so the cord and plug is unseen.

ghetto setup and not feasible for ceiling vents, which is 99% of homes
I'm sure you're just trolling but just in case; most houses with basements or crawlspaces have floor vents because the HVAC is located there, houses built on slab have ceiling vents because the HVAC is in the attic space.

In most places I've lived, inexpensive housing is usually built on slab because it's the cheap option.

In the US, ceiling vents are almost exclusively in basements which typically aren't the frequent living spaces where people would be planning to use these.
So ceiling vents are going to be pretty common when the HVAC mechanical is in the attic space; I see it all the time in southern states and homes built on slab without basements. In this home setup ceiling vents often are going to be on the main level.

In 1 story homes with basements (and some multi-story) the HVAC is commonly in the basement so floor registers on the main level are common. I'd agree in this setup, you normally would see ceiling vents in the basement in conditioned spaces and those don't typically need extra boost from a product like this due to proximity to the source.

In multi-story / multi-zone / dual unit homes you'll see a bit of everything. 2 story with basement, you may very well have a unit in the basement = floor registers on level 1 and a 2nd unit in the attic space = ceiling registers on level 2 for example.

This is a good deal. I bought a few of these for our living room and kitchen last spring at $38 a piece (different generic brand, but same thing). We have large south facing windows and during the summer our unit just can't keep up (despite multiple HVAC tech visits saying there was nothing wrong). The airflow was always too weak and on 100+ temp days, the coolest it would get was 75/76, even though it was set at 72. These worked perfectly and kept our rooms at temp.
Not related to this product, but did you consider window tint film that helps control heat? A home I had years back, this helped significantly

I have a different brand and it makes a huge difference in my room. I immediately notice if one of the kids unplugged it because the room will be either colder or hotter without it on. I just ordered 2 of these so I'm hoping it's the same as AC infinity. I read it has less features but in all my years of owning it, I have only ever had it on fan and never messed with any settings. This seems like a great price but hopefully it works as well as my other one.
AC Infinity has a good reputation for their duct fans and duct boosters, and I have one of their vent boosters like this that works great. My situation is we renovated with a two-story bumpout, both the new upstairs and downstairs rooms are architecturally just the farthest from the central HVAC, so the ducts are much longer and size is also constrained in the narrow space between the two stories (between the lower level ceiling and the upper level subfloor).

I paid a HVAC guy to reconfigure the supply duct to these room in the basement, but then the too-small ducting disappears into the walls for another 20-30 ft. The only thing that solved the issue was the AC Infnity vent booster for the upstairs room (4x10 sidewall register), and a duct booster blower (predates AC Infinity brand) in the basement for the downstairs room (feeds to a 4x10 ceiling vent with no power supply nearby).

This seems similar tot he AC Infinity vent booster, but half the price. My AC Infinity sips like 5 watts running, and even then only activates when it detects the hot or cold air when the HVAC is on.

Yes. That's how I'm using mine.

Having said that, don't expect miracles. These things help, but they can't create airflow that isn't there. Also, they generate a bit of noise on higher settings. Kind of a white noise and not unpleasant, but just know that it's there.
Thank you very much for the update.

As a former certified energy rater. Please just get your HVAC air ducts balanced and never use flexible ducts. They disrupt the airflow and you will lose a vast amount of your condition air pressure before it gets to the register this causing wasted energy, performance and efficiency.

Side question, how much did it cost to reconfigure the ducting, if you don't mind me asking?

IIRC, it was about $400 for a few hours, to add about 20 ft of new duct so the problem room duct could come straight off the main plenum, rather than branching from a shared trunk line. Though this was also when they were already out to replace the furnace. This was about 15 years ago.

The reconfiguration didn't really help much though. the duct booster ultimately did the trick.

It's just a fan that sits in the register? So it increases air flow into that room, but steals it from everywhere else? Because it doesn't create more flow from the HVAC blower...

Just in case it helps someone, I can personally vouch for this. I currently have three of these in my house, two of which are in my master suite which are all the way at the far end of the house (as far away from the furnace as you can get) and the other in my son's bedroom nearby. In my case, my room has suffered over the years from lack of heat or AC getting blown that far away. These register fans have helped immensely and now I have used it for about 12 months.

Also my girlfriend has three of these in her house, and they have helped an awful lot with cooling down a super hot upstairs in the summertime for her west facing master bedroom. Getting ready to buy one more now for my other son's bedroom.

Yeah, we had actually done window tint a few years back. It helped a bit but not enough. I'll just say that if we ever move, I've learned my lesson with not choosing a house with huge south facing windows.
