Good option if you have a room that doesn't get enough airflow. Wish I had this as a kid.
Community Reviews
This register booster fan is aimed at rooms that sit far from the furnace or AC and need help pulling more conditioned air through an existing vent. It is described as useful for long or undersized duct runs, end rooms, basements, attic spaces, and bedrooms over garages, with built in temperature sensing that can keep it running after the HVAC cycles off. The main caveats are noise on higher settings, visible power cords, and the fact that it cannot fix bad ductwork or create airflow that is not already there. A practical niche fix when the room is the weak link.
Common Questions (5)
Yes, it needs power from an outlet, so cord routing is part of the install. Ceiling installs can leave the wire visible unless you hide it in the wall, under baseboards, or hardwire a nearby outlet.
Yes, it can help pull more conditioned air to a room that is far from the furnace or has weak duct airflow, especially for cooling. It does not create new airflow, so it works best where there is already some air to redistribute rather than fixing a bad duct run.
On low settings it can be nearly silent or just a soft white-noise sound, but higher settings are noticeably louder and can be disturbing at night. Placement farther from the bed or using lower speeds helps if noise matters.
Yes. It has a built-in temperature sensor and can keep running after the HVAC shuts off, then turn off when the duct air no longer meets the set temperature. Some users also tie it to a smart plug so it powers on only when heat or AC is running.
No. It can help a weak end register or a room that is slightly under-supplied, but it will not solve leaky ducts, undersized runs, or other underlying HVAC balance problems.

In most places I've lived, inexpensive housing is usually built on slab because it's the cheap option.
In 1 story homes with basements (and some multi-story) the HVAC is commonly in the basement so floor registers on the main level are common. I'd agree in this setup, you normally would see ceiling vents in the basement in conditioned spaces and those don't typically need extra boost from a product like this due to proximity to the source.
In multi-story / multi-zone / dual unit homes you'll see a bit of everything. 2 story with basement, you may very well have a unit in the basement = floor registers on level 1 and a 2nd unit in the attic space = ceiling registers on level 2 for example.
I paid a HVAC guy to reconfigure the supply duct to these room in the basement, but then the too-small ducting disappears into the walls for another 20-30 ft. The only thing that solved the issue was the AC Infnity vent booster for the upstairs room (4x10 sidewall register), and a duct booster blower (predates AC Infinity brand) in the basement for the downstairs room (feeds to a 4x10 ceiling vent with no power supply nearby).
This seems similar tot he AC Infinity vent booster, but half the price. My AC Infinity sips like 5 watts running, and even then only activates when it detects the hot or cold air when the HVAC is on.

Having said that, don't expect miracles. These things help, but they can't create airflow that isn't there. Also, they generate a bit of noise on higher settings. Kind of a white noise and not unpleasant, but just know that it's there.

The reconfiguration didn't really help much though. the duct booster ultimately did the trick.
Also my girlfriend has three of these in her house, and they have helped an awful lot with cooling down a super hot upstairs in the summertime for her west facing master bedroom. Getting ready to buy one more now for my other son's bedroom.
