Paypal updated their offer to 1 time per account and sent everyone an email. 99% already used their offer. Stop multiplying these for every store.

Paying full price might be better anyway. Most of the "free iPhone 17" deals require you to switch to a plan that costs at least $70-90. Plus activation fee. If you go prepaid you can probably get a plan with everything you need for <$25. Do the math and see if it makes sense for you, I think no unless you're already on the $70-90/mo plan (and for some family plans) and it makes sense for you.

This post is a bunch of lies and wasted my time. Warning others not to do the same. Paypal does not allow you to exceed $1,250 regardless of your credit score in total purchases and does not allow you to split the transaction in any way. Apple will allow you to split using a credit card but not different methods like credit card and paypal. It's impossible to get a 256GB Pro Max without the tax being past $1,250 unless you live in a state that does not charge for taxes on iphone shipping or local pick up. This is the same message I get when trying to get the iphone:Our records show that you requested to open a loan on 11/29/2025.We regret that we are unable to approve your request at this time for the following reason:Total balance on your outstanding Pay in 4 loans or the Pay in 4 loan amount you requested is too high.Thank you for your interest in PayPal Pay in 4.Sincerely,PayPal
Same, I got the above message though my purchase price was around $1190. PayPal showed I can pay in 4 Upto $1250 but ended with denying my request.

Here is my timeline:

- I didn't see the offer in mobile app. Used browser to "save" it.

- after saving it in PayPal, I ordered iPhone 17 pro 256gb apple.com online selecting paypal (total was around 1191$ with tax) I didn't want to risk it with Pro Max since it was exceeding the 1250$ order limit. Not sure if it applies pre tax or total amount

*none of my chase cards worked with Pay in 4 option so had to use Bank of America

-pick up my phone in store

-I see points pending after 15 minutes.

Why is my $60 trade-in value added to my total...is Apple going to refund me $120 when they receive my phone? And how does this work since the payment is through PayPal?
Edit: this is a shitshow. If you have a trade-in, Apple retardedly adds that to your subtotal, and PayPal builds your Pay in 4 installments of that inflated total, and I suspect if you try to get that adjusted after the fact PayPal and Apple will just point fingers and send you around in circles. Probably going to cancel this stupid thing.
This is what Chatgpt says about it:
"So what does that mean in plain English?
  • Apple/PayPal have built your Pay in 4 plan off the wrong total (it includes the trade-in value as an extra charge instead of a discount).
  • If nothing changes and you only get a $60 refund later, you will not actually save $60 — you'll just be brought back to full price.
  • You are not crazy; your logic is right, and the way this is displaying/charging is messed up."

"Points pending". I think I did it right. iPhone 17 Pro (non-Max) 512gb $1299 before tax/trade-in. Had to use Chrome; got an error in Firefox.
edit: I see "Point pending" on desktop and mobile, with no amount listed, but under Pending points it shows "20% cash back on one Pay Later purchase with PayPal. Your points are on the way! They should arrive within 90 days." so I'm guessing it worked.
In the Activity section, does it say how many points are pending?

No, there's no points amount shown anywhere that I can see, in either the main Activity section or under Points Activity.

Thank you for the heads up. I searched but didn't find any notice from PayPal even though I've already used the promotion twice. What's the subject of the email? It would help me find this particular email.

Yes I don't see the rewards on my PayPal account either (ordered about half an hour ago)

I do see in the Activity section that 12,000+ (what I ordered was an iPad Air for a bit over $600 after tax) points pending...so hopefully the rewards points get added at some point.

I just followed the steps, and purchased iPhone 17 Pro 256GB ( not the MAX version )
And, the PayPal shows the reward point is pending.
Is the 20% cash before Tax or after Tax?
It's after tax.

I've never used PayPal's pay in 4 before and this one time I tried to use it I got declined for "suspicious activity" and now the pay in 4 button is gone. Does anyone have any idea what the reason could be?

I have the same: no amount of points but everything says 20% cashback

Thats how my iPhone purchase was calculated for points (with tax).

Think about it - you're getting a loan from PayPal, The amount financed is the total amount with tax, not the pretax amount. I highly doubt the algorithm PayPal uses is even looking at the line items, just the total amount billed.
