resorted reviews to most recent and there are a decent amount of bad reviews about it either breaking and/or not lasting very long.
all the quick thumb-ups appear to be padded.

The control is in-line, about halfway down the cord -- which means it's in a fairly inconvenient location for most people no matter how they set it up. Seems like most people either reach underneath their desk or wrap the cord around the pole until the control is secured against the base.

I'm interested in the light and this seems like a good price to make up for the potential inconvenience in usability, but it looks like a few bucks more will get a similar lamp with an actual remote control (and control buttons on the lamp head itself, too). Those don't have the stepless adjustments in lumens and temperature like this one does, but surely there's a lamp that's cheap, stepless, and has a remote... right?
