Not really 256gigs is not a lot when it comes to games. If you plan on downloading games and not having physical cartridges then you would want a bigger memory card. But currently I have most of the Pokemon games on my switch 2 and I have space to spare. You should be good without it and can buy one in the future if need be

If you have a decent sized digital library on the Switch, I would say yes. My 256GB internal storage on mine is already filled up.

If they already have a regular switch, then they probably do. My S2 is full already (all S1 titles and Mariokart World), but I was hoping for a deal on the 512gb to future proof. And don't get me started on the stupid game key cards...

The new Metroid game coming out will be about 32Gb, Mario Kart is 22, while DK is only 8.5 . Since most games for the Switch 2 will be digital, use that as an estimate. Most full size games will be somewhere between 8-32Gb and the internal storage is 256Gb (minus save data and system usage). So, if you plan to play many games and don't want to delete older installs in order to download new games, then sure, more memory would be nice. But, if you don't plan on getting several digital games off the bat, then you can probably pass for now.
