Point being, for 99% of regular users who will not be editing 8k videos every single day, this will far outlast its 5 year warranty. 900 tbw is a great endurance rating for a drive in this tier.
If you write 50GB every single day it would take 49 years to hit 900TBW. I'm fairly certain after 49 years we will not be using 2TB drives anymore.

Certain programs will also use will write huge amounts of data in a scratch file when running jobs, and it can be invisible to the user.
Yes, prices will continue to rise in the coming months, the AI frenzy seems to be only accelerating

I made no comment as to whether it is a good or bad endurance level for this price point. Just posting the stats and NAND type. It is perfectly fine for the casual use this drive is marketed for, although higher-tier drives used to be available for this price. You are the one who presumed I was making a value judgment.
However by purely counting files written, you are severely underestimating the true write wear a SSD undergoes for anything that isn't light usage or archival purposes. Basic photo and video editing can put an enormous amount of write wear as scratch disk even if the input and output are not large. Computational tasks often require a scratch file can rapidly incur lots of wear.These are all relatively well-known effects,so I'm surprised that someone of your seeming technical background was unaware of them.
Even basic content streaming can easily exceed 100s of GB in a day, but this is unlikely to be enough to cause drive failure.

Am I correct in thinking because it is dram-less it is probably not good to replace an Intel Optane ssd drive in a 2-in-1 with a i7u and only 16Gb of ram? The optane drive is slowing to a crawl on 3 and 4th writes and reads in tests. What sucks is both the 2Tb and 1Tb are in stock at my local Walmart.

I've seen it (claim to) come into stock a couple of times at one of my local stores, but still haven't been able to actually get one (yet).
